Automatic Savings Account Agreement
Rev. 02/2024
This Automatic Savings Agreement is for the “Round Up Transfers” which is an automatic savings feature (hereinafter the “Automatic Savings Feature”) for checking and credit products. The Automatic Savings Feature is distributed and serviced by Chime Financial, Inc. (“Chime”) on behalf of Stride Bank, N.A. Member FDIC.
In addition to this Automatic Savings Agreement, the Automatic Savings Feature is associated with your Chime Checking Account (also known as the “Chime Deposit Account”) and the Chime Visa® Debit Card and is subject to the Chime Deposit Account Agreement. The Automatic Savings Feature is also associated with your Chime Credit Builder Visa® Credit Card or Chime Cash Rewards Visa® Credit Card, and their respective credit card accounts (“Card” or “Card Account” or “Credit Card”) and the Secured Deposit Account, and they are subject to the Chime Credit Card Agreement and the Application Disclosure and Secured Account Agreement. Finally, the Automatic Savings Feature is also subject to the Savings Account Agreement and the Chime Electronic Communications Agreement.
Eligibility
To be eligible to enroll in the Automatic Savings Feature associated with your Chime Checking Account, you must have an open and active Checking Account and a Savings Account.
To be eligible to enroll in the Automatic Savings Feature associated with your Card Account and Secured Deposit Account, you must have an open and active Card Account, Secured Deposit Account, and a Savings Account.
Chime reserves the right to cancel or modify the Automatic Savings Feature, or terminate your eligibility, at any time with or without prior notice, subject to applicable law.
Opt-in & Authorization to perform a Round Up Transfer and Transfer Funds
You can turn the Automatic Savings Feature on or off at any time under the Settings screen in the Chime mobile app or website at www.chime.com. You authorize Chime to transfer the Round Up Amount from your Chime Checking Account (for Chime Visa ® Debit Card transactions) or from your Chime Secured Account (for Credit Card transactions) to your Savings Account.
Round Up Transfers
How it works
When you turn on Round Up Transfers, each Eligible Purchase (as defined in the next section below) you make with your Chime Visa® Debit Card (where you turn on Round Up Transfers for your Checking Account) or with your Card (where you turn on Round Up Transfers from the Secured Deposit Account associated with your Card) will be rounded up to the nearest whole U.S. dollar (“Round Up Amount”). For example, if you make an Eligible Purchase for $15.37, this Automatic Savings Feature will round this up by $0.63 for a total of $16.00.
Once the Eligible Purchase transaction settles, the Round Up Amount ($0.63 in the example above) will be debited from either the Chime Checking Account (for Chime Visa® Debit Card Purchases) or the Secured Deposit Account (for Card Purchases), and the Round Up Amount will then be transferred to your Savings Account (“Round Up Transfer”). Round Up Transfers will reduce your Available to Spend amount for your Card. Round up Amounts can be between $0.01 and $0.99.
The Round Up Transfer will appear in your Checking Account (for Chime Visa® Debit Card Purchases) or Secured Deposit Account statements (for Card purchases) as, “Round Up Transfer to Savings Account.” They will appear in your Savings Account statement as, “Round Up Transfer from Checking Account”(for Chime Visa® Debit Card Purchases) or “Round Up Transfer from Secured Deposit Account” (for Card purchases).
At any time, you can turn on or off Round Up Transfers made from your Checking Account or your Secured Deposit Account, both, or neither. Foreign currency Eligible Purchases are rounded up to the nearest whole dollar after the Eligible Purchase is converted to U.S. dollars and posts to your Chime Checking Account or Secured Deposit Account.
Eligible and Non-Eligible Purchases
Eligible Purchases include any settled (i.e., fully completed) card present or card not present, Personal Identification Number (“PIN”) or signature purchase transaction made using the Chime Visa® Debit Card or Credit Card. This includes online transactions made using the 16-digit card number.
Non-Eligible Purchases include any cash withdrawal from an Automated Teller Machine (“ATM”) or Over The Counter (“OTC”) cash withdrawal; bill payment transactions using the Chime Checkbook; cash back received at a Point-of-Sale device; Online Transfers between the Chime Checking Account and the Savings Account; ACH Credits initiated from the Chime Mobile App or Website to another bank account you own; and electronic Automated Clearing House (“ACH”) debit transactions.
Transfer Timing
- One (1) Round Up Transfer will be completed for each Eligible Purchase transaction when the Eligible Purchase transaction settles. An Eligible Purchase typically settles within 1 to 3 business days of the transaction date; the timing depends on the merchant’s actions.
- If you cancel or reverse your Eligible Purchase for any reason (including disputes), the corresponding Round Up Transfer will not be reversed.
Exceptions
- A Round Up Transfer will not be made if an Eligible Purchase consists of a whole dollar amount, e.g., $5.00
- A Round Up Transfer will not be made if this Automatic Savings Feature for the card you used to make the Eligible Purchase is turned off at the time the Eligible Purchase settles.
- If, at the time an Eligible Purchase settles, your Checking Account or Secured Deposit Account has insufficient available funds to cover the full amount of the Round Up Transfer, the Round Up Transfer will not be made.
- Retroactive Round Up Transfers are not permitted. This means, even if you deposit money, or a credit posts to your Checking Account or Secured Deposit Account, previously unmade Round Up Transfers will not be posted to the Savings Account.
Save When You Get a Direct Deposit
Save When I Get Paid – How it works
Following your activation of Save When I Get Paid, 10% of each Eligible Direct Deposit (as defined below) you receive will be transferred automatically from your Chime Checking Account into your Chime Savings Account, after you receive each Eligible Direct Deposit. This transfer is referred to as a “Save When I Get Paid Transfer” in this Agreement. The transfer will appear as “Transfer to Chime Savings” in your Chime Checking Account statement and “Transfer from Chime Checking” in your Chime Savings Account statement and your transaction history. Save When I Get Paid Transfers will only apply to qualifying direct deposits of $1.00 or more. If you are enrolled in any automated payment or debit programs for other Chime branded products other than Move My Pay, such as SpotMe or MyPay, those payments or debits will be deducted prior to any Save When I Get Paid transfers.
A “Eligible Direct Deposit” is a deposit by Automated Clearing House (ACH) that comes from your employer, payroll provider, gig economy payer, or benefits payer OR a deposit by Original Credit Transaction (OCT) from your gig economy payer. Bank ACH transfers, Pay Anyone transfers, verification or trial deposits from financial institutions, peer to peer transfers from services such as PayPal, Cash App, or Venmo, mobile check deposits, cash loads or deposits, one time direct deposits, such as tax refunds and other similar transactions, are not Eligible Direct Deposits.
