Tulane University announced Tuesday that Chime® co-founder and CEO, Chris Britt, has been appointed to its Board, marking another milestone in his lifelong commitment to expanding access to education as a driver of financial progress.

A Tulane alum, Chris has long credited the university as a significant influence that shaped the trajectory of his career. “Tulane has had a profound impact on my life. It sparked my curiosity, expanded my thinking, and led to many of my most meaningful relationships,” said Chris. “Looking back, it reaffirmed the critical role education can play in shaping our lives.”

Improving access to education has been a passion for Chris throughout his life. Inspired by a neighbor who helped fund his early education, Chris launched the Chime Scholars Foundation™  (CSF) in 2023 to help advance financial progress by expanding access to college, trade school, and technical programs for students from all walks of life.

Since its founding, CSF has awarded scholarships to nearly 600 students nationwide, with a focus on first-generation and non-traditional learners. In the 2024–2025 academic year alone, 438 scholars received more than $2 million in financial support — a 70% increase from the year prior.

Chime has committed 1% of its potential future equity to fund CSF’s continued growth, ensuring long-term support for its mission, the foundation, and its scholars.

“The financial support I received changed my life. CSF was built to pay that forward,” added Chris. “We’re investing in people who work hard, hustle, and want a better future — because access to education is one of the most powerful tools for unlocking financial progress.”
